Home Security Surveillance Systems Can Be Faked
ByWhen a thief is perusing a neighborhood looking for a victim, they often choose the house that isn’t protected by any security at all. That’s a given, right? But how do they know which homes have security and which ones don’t? Can they just look at a house and tell whether the door is wired with an alarm, or that the windows are? Do they know that the house has a camera in the living room or in any of the bedrooms? Do they know whether or not the system is wired to a security company that will contact the police if any of the alarms are tripped? Of course not. However, most thieves look for stickers or signs posted in the yard that indicate whether or not that house is protected by a home security surveillance system. So is it any shock that most homes aren’t protected by any alarms at all and merely employ these stickers and signs to keep burglars at bay?
False Signs
If you post some stickers or signs in your yard that claim that your house is protected by an alarm, why would a burglar risk tripping any wires or setting off any alarms? They won’t. They will go onto the next house that doesn’t have any of these stickers or signs. You can get these home security surveillance stickers and signs at any hardware store or you can get them online. They’re a great way to tell burglars to bug off, as your home may or may not be protected by a home security surveillance system. What burglar wants to take a chance that a home may be protected? That’s why these false stickers and signs may be all you need instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a home security surveillance system.
Fake Cameras
Many people also go the extra step beyond just stickers and signs and they actually put up dummy home security cameras. These fake cameras only look like real cameras, there is no function to them at all. However, a burglar doesn’t know that. They will think it’s a real camera and will just go onto the next house that doesn’t have cameras. Some fake cameras that people put up instead of a home security surveillance system even have little red lights that make them look real.
It should be noted that a burglar must think that your home is protected by a home security surveillance system. That means not blabbing to your neighbors and anyone else who will listen that your cameras and signs are fake and also not boasting about any valuables in your house because signs or not, a burglar will take the chance no your home, especially if they think there’s a big score to be had.
